Aircraft Design Optimization with Reachability
Talk, 2026 American Control Conference (ACC), New Orlenas, LA, USA
In this talk, I discussed my work on design optimization using reachability analysis. We used a sampling-based approach to reachability to compute reachable sets for linear-longitudinal aircraft dynamics and considered metrics based on the reachable set volumes and projections. I also discussed some of our work in the journal extension of our ACC submission, where we applied this analysis in the design optimization of a blended-wing-body aircraft. Our analysis demonstrated improved nonlinear reference tracking performance using controller-agnostic metrics based on reachable sets for linearized dynamics.
